Researching and Defining guidelines
While running HUNT ENGINEERING, we worked on several architectures for different product ranges. I had a team of designers/developers working on products that all had to work together, and with a common software/firmware development environment.
As well as the specifications of the products, we needed to all work in the same style and with the same quality. To facilitate that I produced a number of Company guideline documents
- Project development guides and checklists
- Switch Mode Power Supply design and layout guidelines as well as spreadsheets to determine component selections
- How to use specific development tools in our style
- Company PCB stack up and layout guidelines
- What Signal Integrity methods to use for interoperability across the whole product range present and future
- how to design for manufacture for our specific production equipment
- Guides on how to write User Documentation for consistency
Having these guidelines were necessary to
- Prevent duplication of work by several team members
- Prevent similar features being presented to customers in different ways
- Allow new team members to follow the company style without constant mentoring
- Allow different team members to understand the work of others
You might have similar requirements, and I can help to define the guidelines as well as write the policies and documents.
